Biopython
Biopython is a set of freely available tools for biological computation written in Python by an international team of developers.
A Python library for biological computation, sequence analysis, bioinformatics file parsing, and access to online biological databases.
About the Project
Why use this?
Biopython provides Python modules for computational molecular biology, including parsers for FASTA, GenBank, BLAST, Clustal, and other bioinformatics formats. It also includes sequence objects, alignment and motif analysis, clustering, structural-biology tools, phylogenetics support, and interfaces to online services such as NCBI and ExPASy.
Bioengineers choose Biopython when they need a flexible, scriptable foundation for custom genomics and bioinformatics workflows. It is particularly useful for automating sequence retrieval, parsing annotations, manipulating records, building analysis scripts, and integrating biological data into larger Python applications.
