Cantera
Open-source chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and transport
An open-source suite for chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and transport calculations in combustion, electrochemistry, and reacting-flow problems.
About the Project
Why use this?
Cantera automates chemical-kinetic, thermodynamic, and transport calculations so engineers can incorporate detailed chemical thermo-kinetics and transport models into their calculations. It uses object-oriented phase models and generalized algorithms, allowing users to change phase models with minimal changes to their code.
Reaction-engineering and process engineers choose Cantera for combustion, detonation, fuel cells, batteries, electrolytes, plasmas, and thin-film deposition. It can be used from Python and MATLAB or embedded in C/C++ and Fortran applications, making it a strong foundation for reactor modeling, kinetic mechanism evaluation, and coupled reacting-flow simulation.
