COMPAS
The COMPAS framework is an open-source, Python-based framework for computational research and collaboration in architecture, engineering, digital fabrication and construction.
A Python framework for computational structural design, geometry, fabrication, and AEC research workflows.
About the Project
Why use this?
COMPAS provides reusable computational infrastructure for architecture, engineering, fabrication, and construction. It includes geometric and topological data structures, visualization, CAD integrations, and extensions connecting to CGAL, libigl, OpenCASCADE, Gmsh, and analysis tools used in structural engineering and fabrication.
Structural engineers choose COMPAS when they need to build custom parametric and computational design workflows that are not limited to one CAD platform. It is particularly strong for form-finding, digital fabrication, structural research, BIM integration, and reusable Python-based engineering tools that can run in Rhino, Grasshopper, Blender, or standalone Python environments.
