CoolProp
CoolProp is a thermophysical property database and wrappers for a selection of programming environments.
An open-source thermophysical-property library providing fluid, mixture, humid-air, and water/steam properties for engineering calculations.
About the Project
Why use this?
CoolProp provides accurate thermophysical and transport properties for pure fluids, pseudo-pure fluids, mixtures, incompressible fluids, brines, and humid air. It implements high-accuracy Helmholtz-energy formulations, cubic equations of state, PC-SAFT, IAPWS-IF97 water/steam properties, and efficient tabular interpolation methods.
Process engineers choose CoolProp when they need reliable property calculations inside Python, MATLAB, Excel, C++, or other engineering tools. It is especially useful for heat-exchanger design, refrigeration, compression, utility systems, psychrometrics, and process simulation, offering REFPROP-like functionality in an open-source package.
