EPA SWMM
EPA's Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) is used throughout the world for decision support, emergency response, planning, analysis, and design related to stormwater, combined, and sanitary sewer systems as well as for other drainage systems.
A dynamic rainfall-runoff and drainage-network model for simulating stormwater quantity, quality, hydraulics, and green-infrastructure performance.
About the Project
Why use this?
SWMM simulates runoff quantity and quality from urban subcatchments and routes it through pipes, channels, storage and treatment devices, pumps, and regulators. It supports single-event and long-term continuous simulation, making it suitable for both design storms and multi-year system performance analysis.
Environmental and civil engineers choose SWMM for stormwater master planning, sewer-system analysis, flood-risk assessment, pollutant-load estimation, and green-infrastructure design. It can evaluate gray infrastructure such as pipes and storm drains as well as hybrid green/gray strategies, including infiltration and retention practices. [341][346][347]
