EPANET
Application for Modeling Drinking Water Distribution Systems
An EPA application for modeling hydraulic and water-quality behavior in drinking-water distribution networks.
About the Project
Why use this?
EPANET models the movement and fate of drinking-water constituents within distribution systems. It simulates pressure, flow, water age, source mixing, chlorine decay, and contaminant propagation across networks of pipes, pumps, valves, and storage tanks.
Environmental engineers use EPANET for distribution-system design, hydraulic analysis, water-quality assessment, contamination-response planning, and operational studies. Its open-source solver and API make it suitable for both standalone modeling and integration into optimization, sensor-network, and digital-twin workflows. [342]
