ESP-IDF
Espressif IoT Development Framework
Espressif’s official production-grade SDK for building firmware for ESP32-family systems-on-chip.
About the Project
Why use this?
ESP-IDF is Espressif’s official development framework for ESP32, ESP32-S, ESP32-C, ESP32-H, and ESP32-P series SoCs. It provides a self-sufficient SDK with an RTOS, peripheral drivers, networking stacks, protocol implementations, security features, OTA updates, build tooling, and a component registry for reusable firmware modules.
Electronics engineers choose ESP-IDF when building connected products on Espressif silicon because it provides one production-oriented workflow across the chip portfolio. It supports C and C++, CMake-based projects, VS Code and other editors, MCP-based AI-assisted development, and a large ecosystem of maintained components for networking, displays, audio, vision, and cloud connectivity.
