MASTODON
MASTODON is a highly-parallelizable, finite-element analysis code capable of three-dimensional nonlinear soil-structure analysis including the simulation of source-to-site wave propagation.
A MOOSE-based finite-element application for nonlinear seismic, soil-structure interaction, and multi-hazard structural response analysis.
About the Project
Why use this?
MASTODON is designed for analyzing the response of three-dimensional soil-structure systems to natural and man-made hazards, with a current focus on seismic events. It supports earthquake fault rupture, nonlinear wave propagation, nonlinear soil-structure interaction, reinforced-concrete modeling, and coupled solid-fluid behavior.
Structural and geotechnical engineers choose MASTODON when they need high-fidelity, parallel seismic response analysis beyond the capabilities of conventional building-analysis software. It is particularly relevant for nuclear-plant buildings, dams, critical infrastructure, site response, and source-to-site earthquake simulations, and it can run on workstations or large high-performance computing systems.
