A public repository for sharing, archiving, and reusing materials research data, including metals, alloys, composites, CALPHAD data, and first-principles results.

About the Project

Why use this?

The NIST Materials Data Repository supports the Materials Genome Initiative by providing a mechanism for exchanging and reusing materials research data across metals, alloys, composites, and more. It accepts data in any format, associates files with searchable metadata, organizes content into communities and collections, and provides persistent identifiers and a web-accessible API.

A materials engineer should use it to locate experimental and computational datasets for alloy development, composite modeling, CALPHAD modeling, thermodynamics, diffusion, and materials-informatics projects. It is especially valuable when building reproducible models because it emphasizes FAIR data practices: findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable materials data. [152][153][155][163]
