OSHA Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals
Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals
The U.S. OSHA regulatory framework for preventing and mitigating catastrophic releases of highly hazardous chemicals.
About the Project
Why use this?
OSHA’s Process Safety Management standard, 29 CFR 1910.119, defines the required management system for facilities handling highly hazardous chemicals. It addresses process-safety information, hazard analysis, operating procedures, training, mechanical integrity, management of change, incident investigation, emergency planning, and audits.
Process-safety engineers use it as the baseline compliance framework for HAZOP and other process-hazard analyses, safety-instrumented-system planning, mechanical-integrity programs, and management-of-change workflows. Even outside U.S. jurisdiction, it is a widely referenced structure for building a rigorous process-safety management system.
